Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Republic of Tanzania
On February 7, 2019, the Permanent Representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Republic of Tanzania to the UN signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in the Russian Federation is accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Contacts with the Tanzanian side are mainly conducted through the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ethiopia.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Tanzania are mainly developing within the framework of the UN, NAM, and other international organizations. Mutual support is demonstrated for candidacies and relevant projects put forward by Azerbaijan and Tanzania within multilateral platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the UN. The parties are interested in the development of bilateral cooperation in tourism, education, humanitarian, economic, energy and other fields. At the same time, it is important to intensify political consultations between the two countries and expand the bilateral legislative base.
Mutual visits of the Vice Presidents
- The Vice President of Tanzania Philip Isdor Mpango participated in the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement on the fight against COVID-19 held in Baku on March 2, 2023.
Mutual visits of the Prime Ministers
- A delegation led by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majalivan, visited Azerbaijan as part of the XVIII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku on October 23-26, 2019.
