Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Sierra Leone
On March 13, 1995, the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Sierra Leone was signed.
On January 18, 2024, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, accepted the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Alie Badara Kamara.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Sierra Leone are developing within the framework of the UN, NAM and OIC. Our countries show mutual support for each other within the framework of international organizations. During Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, cooperation with Sierra Leone within the Movement were quite effective. Azerbaijan extended its support to Sierra Leone during the Ebola virus.
There are range of opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in economy, agriculture, investment, human capital development, culture and education.
Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs
On September 25, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone Alie Kabba within the framework of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
