Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uganda
On August 19 1995, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uganda signed a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Contacts with the Republic of Uganda are mainly carried out through the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ethiopia.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the Islamic Republic of Iran is accredited in Baku, with his residence in Tehran.
On September 21, 2018, the Minister of Public Services of the Republic of Uganda, Wilson Muruli Mukasa, visited the Republic of Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Agency for Citizen Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Public Services of the Republic of Uganda on the creation of a mechanism for the provision of public services. The document is of particular importance in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for African countries development, exemplary governance, and socio-economic progress. During the visit, the Ugandan delegation was acquainted with "ASAN service" centers, "ABAD," a public legal entity, and mobile "ASAN service".
On July 21, 2023, the State Services Center, which will operate on the basis of the "ASAN service" model, was inaugurated in the city of Hoima, Republic of Uganda. The delegation led by Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Citizen Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Wilson Muruli Mukasa, Minister of Public Services of Uganda, participated at the ceremony.
Effective cooperation exists between Azerbaijan and Uganda within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs
- On January 17, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, paid a working trip to the Republic of Uganda to participate at the 19th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement.
