Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kenya
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kenya were established on May 28, 2004.
On November 18, 2022, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, signed Order No. N636VIQ on the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Kenya.
On May 23, 2023, Sultan Hajiyev was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Kenya.
Kenya's ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran is also accredited in Azerbaijan.
The Republic of Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with the Republic of Kenya and the expansion of cooperation in various fields. There is a cooperation between our countries on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international organizations. Both countries have great opportunities to develop mutually beneficial relations in various fields. The intensity of the exchanges of mutual visits carried out recently shows the potential for further development of the existing relations.
Mutual visits of the Prime Ministers
- Kenya's Chief Cabinet Secretary (Prime Minister) Musalia Mudavadi visited Azerbaijan to participate in the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement on the fight against COVID-19 held in Baku on March 2, 2023.
Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs
- On October 23, 2019, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya Mr. Ababu Namwambani visited our country to participate in the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement.
