Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco
On December 30, 1991, the Kingdom of Morocco recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco were established on August 28, 1992. Relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco are developing within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and OIC.
On December 12, 1994, the Protocol on Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco was signed in Casablanca.
At the 7th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Organization of the Islamic Conference held in Casablanca on December 13–15, 1994, during the meeting between the late President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, and the late King Hassan II of Morocco, the development of Azerbaijan-Morocco relations and future prospects of cooperation were discussed.
The opening of the Embassy of Morocco in Baku and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Rabat contributed to the development of bilateral relations in various fields.
There is a political consultation mechanism between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco. On January 4–6, 2007, the first round of inter-country political consultations was held in Rabat, and on March 5, 2018, the second round was held in Baku.
A certain dynamic trend has been observed in the exchange of visits between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco in recent years. During this period, mutual visits were made at different levels (minister and deputy minister, chairman of the parliament, head and deputy of the committee, chairman of the agency, ombudsman, sheikhs, and chairman of the court).

Inter-parliamentary relations
There is a working group on Azerbaijan-Morocco inter-parliamentary relations in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a Morocco-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group functions in the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco.
- September 23–28, 2010 - the official visit of the delegation to Azerbaijan, headed by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco, Abdulvahid Radi;
- June 29–July 2, 2022 - visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, Rashid Talbi Al Alam, to Azerbaijan to participate in the first conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku;
- May 15–17, 2023 - working visit of the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, Rashid Talbi Al Alam, to participate in the special session of the Milli Majlis dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
- December 14–16, 2023 – Mrs. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited Morocco.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, Azerbaijan and Morocco signed twenty-three documents on co-operation in various fields.
