Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Nigeria
The Federal Republic of Nigeria recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 11, 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on that day.
Contacts between the two countries are carried out mainly through the Embassies of Azerbaijan in Africa, and, likewise, Embassy of Nigeria in the Republic of Iran.
Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Nigeria is carried out mainly within the framework of international organizations. Relations in the political sphere are at a high level, and our countries actively cooperate within the framework of various international organizations. Nigeria has always supported the righteous position of Azerbaijan on the Karabakh issue, as well as in extending Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement until 2023. This support was evaluated by Azerbaijan as a sign of trust and friendship.
Students from Nigeria are studying in higher educational institutions in Azerbaijan as part of the scholarship program offered to the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to study in our country.
There is an inter-parliamentary working group between Azerbaijan and Nigeria.
