Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova

 

Azerbaijan and Moldova have established a productive bilateral cooperation agenda. The advancement of relations between the two countries is favourably impacted by the prevailing mutual sympathy between the citizens of Azerbaijan and Moldova.

 

The active political dialogue organized at the highest level between the two countries lays the foundation for dynamic development in the economic, trade, humanitarian, cultural, and various other areas of our bilateral cooperation.

 

The platforms of the inter-MFA political consultation, the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, and the interparliamentary friendship group are pivotal in the advancement of Azerbaijan-Moldova bilateral relations.

 

Azerbaijan-Moldova relations are successfully continued in the framework of international organizations, in addition to the bilateral format. Our countries demonstrate reciprocal support at various international platforms, including the UN, OSCE, GUAM, and other international organizations.

 

Mutual visits of the Heads of the States

 

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, made 1 official and 2 working visits to Moldova. The official visit took place on April 21, 2005, and the working visit took place on May 31-June 1, 2023 (the summit of the European Political Union).

Mutual visits of the Heads of the Government

 

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilitsa, made an official visit to Azerbaijan on October 10-11, 2022.

 

Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Niku Popescu, made an official visit to Azerbaijan on February 8-9, 2022.

 

Inter-parliamentary relations

 

The Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Gross, made an official visit to Azerbaijan on February 21-24, 2022.

Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova M. Popshoy attended the special session of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev on May 16, 2023. Additionally, he participated in the conference titled "The Role of National Parliaments in Promoting Security and Stability through Green Economy, Transport Connectivity, and Sustainable Development," which took place in Baku on May 22-23, 2023, organized by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

 

The working group on interparliamentary relations between the two countries has been operating since March 1997.

 

A working group consisting of eight members has been established to focus on inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova in the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The head of the group is Mr. Siyavush Novruzov.

 

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova hosts a friendship group consisting of 30 individuals focused on the interparliamentary relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan. The head of the group is Vitaly Jakot.
