Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Latvia
Republic of Latvia recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 8 January 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on the 11th of January 1994.
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Latvia opened in 2005.
The Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Republic of Azerbaijan opened in 2006.
Azerbaijan attaches importance to its bilateral relations with Latvia and the bilateral ties involve political, economic and humanitarian areas.

On 3-5 of October 2006, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, lead a delegation to the Republic of Latvia for a state visit;
On 17-18 of January 2011, a delegation led by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, paid an official visit to the Republic of Latvia;
On 16-18 of July 2017, a delegation led by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, paid an official visit to the Republic of Latvia.

On 1-3 February 2022, Chair of Parliament (Milli Majlis) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, paid an official visit to the Republic of Latvia.

On 2-5 October 2016, Speaker of Parliament (Saeima) of the Republic of Latvia İnara Murniece, paid an official visit to the Republic of Latvia.
The Working Group for the Azerbaijani-Latvian Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been set up in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Kamran Bayramov MP is the current chairperson of the working group.
The Group for promoting cooperation with the Parliament of Azerbaijan has been established in the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia. The parliamentary group is currently chaired by Olegs Burovs.
Contractual and legal framework
45 bilateral agreements have been signed between Azerbaijan and Latvia.
Economic cooperation
47 Latvian companies are involved in Azerbaijan in the fields of construction, services, industry, communications, transport, trade, banking and insurance.
On 3 October 2005, the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation was established between the two countries. So far, the commission has held 8 meetings.
