Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Slovak Republic
The Slovak Republic recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 24 January 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 23 November 1993.
The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened on 1 October 2019.
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Slovak Republic was opened on 14 July 2023.
On 24 April 2009, the Honorary Consulate of Azerbaijan was opened in the Slovak Republic.
Azerbaijan attaches importance to the development of relations with Slovakia, and cooperation between the two countries covers political, economic and humanitarian spheres.

Inter-parliamentary relations
A working group on the Azerbaijan-Slovakia inter-parliamentary relations was established in Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 13 December 2005. The parliamentary group is headed by MP Anar Mammadov.
The Parliament of Slovakia has a working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
- The Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Boris Kollar has made one official (10-13 June 2022) and two working visits (15-17 May 2023 and 5-6 September 2023) to Azerbaijan over the period of 2019-2024.
- The Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova paid an official visit to Slovakia on 7-9 October 2021.
Contractual and legal framework
13 bilateral agreements have been signed between Azerbaijan and the Slovak Republic.
Economic cooperation
According to the "Agreement on economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Slovak Republic" signed in Baku on 19 October 2021, the Azerbaijan-Slovakia Joint Working Group on Economic Cooperation was established.
