Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Malta

 

Azerbaijan established diplomatic relations with Malta on January 9, 1995.

 

Azerbaijan attaches importance to its bilateral relations with Malta and the bilateral ties involve political, economic and humanitarian areas.

Inter-parliamentary relations

The working group on Azerbaijan-Malta inter-parliamentary relations in the Milli Majlis comprises 5 members and is headed by Gudrat Hasanguliyev MP. Malta-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group was inaugurated in October 2012 in the Parliament of Malta and is headed by Chris Agius.

 

- The Speaker of the Parliament of Malta, Angelo Farrugia, paid working visits to the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 26, 2016, November 1, 2015 and October 9, 2013.

 

Contractual and legal framework

4 bilateral agreements have been signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Malta.

 

Economic cooperation

11 Maltese companies are involved in various sectors of Azerbaijan’s economy, including industry, construction, agriculture, trade and services.

 

There is no Joint Intergovernmental Commission mechanism between Azerbaijan and Malta.
