Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Hellenic Republic
The Hellenic Republic recognized Azerbaijan's independence on December 31, 1991.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Hellenic Republic (Greece) were established on April 2, 1992.
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Hellenic Republic was opened on April 16, 2004. The Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened on May 27, 1993.
Azerbaijan attaches importance to its bilateral relations with Greece and the bilateral ties cover political, economic and humanitarian areas.

Inter-parliamentary relations
Working Group on Azerbaijan-Greece inter-parliamentary relations in Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan consists of 10 parliamentarians. Bahruz Mammadov, MP, is the current chairperson of the parliamentary group.
Speaker of Milli Majlis Mr. Oktay Asadov paid a working visit to the Hellenic Republic to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation on June 9-11, 2008.
- Speaker of Milli Majlis Ms. Sahiba Gafarova paid a working visit to the Hellenic Republic to attend the European Conference of Presidents/Speakers of Parliament of PACE on October 20-22, 2021.
Contractual and legal framework
24 bilateral agreements have been signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Hellenic Republic.
Economic cooperation
Co-chairs of Azerbaijan-Greece Intergovernmental Commission are Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, and
Konstantinos (Kostas) Fragkogiannis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece.
The Commission has convened 4 meetings so far. The last meeting was held in Athens on May 26-27, 2016.
