Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Estonia
The Republic of Azerbaijan recognized the independence of the Republic of Estonia on the 6th of December 1991. The Republic of Estonia recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 20th of February 1992.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on the 20th of April 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Estonia was established in late 2010.
The diplomatic office of the Republic of Estonia in the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened on the 26th of August 2014,
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Sven Mikser, paid an official visit to Azerbaijan on the 12th of June 2017.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Sven Mikser, was on another official visit to Azerbaijan on the 1st of December 2017.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group on Azerbaijan-Estonia Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group is chaired by Mrs Jala Ahmadova.
The Estonian Parliament has a group on inter-parliamentary relations with Azerbaijan. The chairman of the group is Sven Sester.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, fifteen documents were signed between Azerbaijan and Estonia.
Economic co-operation
There is an Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Estonia. The last 3rd meeting was held on the 7th of April 2017 in Baku.
