Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus

 

The Republic of Azerbaijan attaches significant importance to its relations with the Republic of Belarus and is interested in expanding and deepening them across all sectors. Currently, Azerbaijan-Belarus relations are characterized by a strategic partnership, and the dynamics of cooperation are developing on an upward line.

 

The ongoing active political dialogue at the highest level serve as a foundation for the cooperation and serious accomplishments observed in various areas of our bilateral relations, including economic, trade, investments, agricultural, humanitarian, cultural, tourism, and more.

 

Various platforms, such as the political consultations mechanism between ministries of foreign affairs, the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, and the interparliamentary friendship group play significant role in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus. Moreover, the engagement of leaders through high-level visits and the consistent meetings conducted within these frameworks meaningfully enhance our relations, elevating them to a new qualitative level and enriching their content.

 

Azerbaijan and Belarus not only engage in bilateral cooperation but also work effectively within regional and international organizations, showing a keen awareness of each other's national interests and providing mutual support.

 

Mutual visits of the Heads of the States

 

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made 5 official and 3 working visits to Belarus.

The official visits took place on the following dates: October 17-18, 2006; November 11-13, 2009; August 28-29, 2012; November 27-28, 2015; and November 18-19, 2018.

The working visits took place on October 25, 2013, and on October 9-10, 2014.

 

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus, made four official visits to Azerbaijan on the following dates: May 1-3, 2007, June 3-4, 2010, November 20-21, 2013, and November 28-29, 2016. Additionally, he undertook three working visits: June 12, 2015, for the official opening ceremony of the First European Games; April 13-14, 2021; and November 11-12; and one state visit on May 16-17, 2024.

 

Mutual visits of the Heads of the Government

 

Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan A. Rasizade made 1 official and 3 working visits to Belarus.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov paid an official visit to Belarus on October 3, 2024.

The Prime Ministers of the Republic of Belarus made 6 visits to Azerbaijan; the last visit took place on May 18-19, 2022.

 

Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan made 1 official visit to Belarus (05-07.10.2014).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus made 1 official visit to Azerbaijan (10-11.06.2013).

 

Inter-parliamentary relations

 

The working group on inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries has been operating since March 25, 2004.

 

Ziyad Samadzade, the head of the Azerbaijan-Belarus inter-parliamentary relations group in the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The head of the Belarus-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations group in the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus - Mikhail Rusiy.
