Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Poland

The Republic of Poland recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 27th of December 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on the 21st of February 1992.

 

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Poland was established on the 30th of August 2004. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Azerbaijan was established on the 23rd of August 2001.

 

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, visited Poland on 8-9 July 2016 and on 26-28 July 2017.

 

The President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Andrzej Duda, paid a visit to Azerbaijan on the 31st of May to the 1st of June 2019.

 

The visits of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Poland took place on 10-12 April 2017 and 16-18 April 2019.

 

The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland to Azerbaijan took place on 18-19 October 2017.

 

Inter-parliamentary relations

 

The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Polish Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group has 13 members and is chaired by Sattar Mohbaliyev, a member of the Milli Majlis.

In total, fifty-one documents were signed between the two countries.

The main products for export: propylene, fruit juices and vegetables, hazelnuts, kerosene, and construction materials.

The main products for import: diesel engines, medicines, confectionery, and hygienic products, as well as industrial and construction equipment.

The Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Poland was established in 2006. Co-chairs of the commission are:  Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamaladdin Heydarov and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology of the Republic of Poland, Robert Tomanek. So far, the commission has held seven meetings. The last meeting was held in Warsaw on the 20th of December 2016.
