Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of India
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of India has been active since 2004. The Embassy of the Republic of India in the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened in October 1999.
A delegation led by the Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, visited Azerbaijan to attend the 18th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Baku on the 24th to the 26th of October 2019.
On December the 1st of 2017, the Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India, Mobashar Javid Akbar, visited Azerbaijan to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process (HoA IP) on Afghanistan held in Baku.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India, Mrs Sushma Swaraj, paid a visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Baku on the 3rd to the 6th of April 2018.
A delegation led by Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar visited Azerbaijan to attend the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement and Preparatory Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku on the 22nd to the 26th of October 2019.
Inter-parliamentary working groups
The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Indian Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been operating in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan since the 5th of October 2000. The head of the group is Nagif Hamzayev.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, twelve documents were signed between Azerbaijan and India.
Economic co-operation
Intergovernmental Commission
The Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of India was established on the 11th of April 2007. On the part of Azerbaijan, the Commission is co-chaired by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mukhtar Babayev. The Indian Minister of Trade and Industry, Piyush Goyal, is the co-chair on the part of the Government of India.
