Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were established on the 23rd of September 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has been active since 2013. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Moscow was accredited to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Vietnam have established a political consultations mechanism.
The first round of political consultations took place in Hanoi on March 10-13, 2019, under the chairmanship of Ramiz Hasanov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Buy Than Son, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The second round of political consultations took place in Hanoi on July 19, 2022, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ha Kim Nqoc.
Mutual visits of the Heads of the States
On May 18-19, 2014, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, paid the state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
On May 13-15 may 2015, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chiong Tan Shang, paid an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Mutual visits of the Vice Presidents
On October 25-26, 2019, The Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Dang Thi Ngoc Thin, paid a working visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs
On September 12-15, 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, paid an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Vietnamese Inter-Parliamentary Relations operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group is chaired by Ali Masimli. The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Vietnamese Inter-Parliamentary Relations is chaired by Nguyen Manh Hung from Vietnam side.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, 17 documents were signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Economic cooperation
The Azerbaijan-Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation held its first meeting in Hanoi on January 16, 2017. The second meeting of the Commission took place in Baku on June 20, 2018. The co-chair of the Commission on the Azerbaijani side is Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov. On the Vietnamese side, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien co-chairs the Commission.
