Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 30th of December 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on the 24th of February 1992.
Current relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are dynamic in nature. The main factor ensuring this dynamism is the high level of political relations that created favourable conditions for the expansion of cooperation in various fields including large investments by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan. Facilitation of the visa regime on a mutual basis has given impetus to the development of cooperation in the field of tourism. Overall, the existence of untapped potential in Azerbaijan-Saudi Arabia relations promises good prospects for mutual cooperation. Both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international platforms, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Contractual and legal framework
In total, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed twenty two documents on co-operation in various areas.
Economic cooperation
On April 25, 2000, the Azerbaijani and Saudi governments founded a Joint Commission for Cooperation in the domains of business, commerce, investment, technology, culture, sports, and youth.
