The Slovak Republic
The Slovak Republic recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 24th of January 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on the 23rd of November 1993.
The embassy of our country in Austria represents Azerbaijan in Slovakia. The embassy of the Slovak Republic in the Republic of Azerbaijan has been active since the 1st of October 2019.
On the 5th to the 6th of December 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, paid a visit to the Slovak Republic.
The visits of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan took place on the 4th to the 5th of March 2019 and on the 17th of March 2021.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Slovakian Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operating in the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan since the 13th of December 2005. The group is chaired by Anar Mammadov, a member of the Milli Majlis.
The National Council of the Slovak Republic has a working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The leader of the group is Adriana Pcholinska.
