Bilateral diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan
Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan were established on the 6th of February 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ukraine was opened on the 17th of March 1997, while the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened on the 5th of May 1996.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine show a positive development dynamics. Mutual visits at the level of heads of state and government, as well as speakers and members of parliaments, along with ministers and chiefs of various government agencies have been a key driver in the development of relations between the two countries.
The Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, which was signed during the official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Ukraine on the 22nd of May 2008, and the Joint Declaration on the Future Development between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, dated the 28th of April 2011, were milestone events in Azerbaijani-Ukraine bilateral relations.
On the 14th of July 2016, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, paid a visit to Azerbaijan.
On 16-17 December 2019, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, paid a visit to Azerbaijan.
On the 2nd to the 3rd of October 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavel Klimkin, paid a visit to Azerbaijan.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operates in the Milli Majlis since 1995; the working group plays an important role in expanding inter-parliamentary relations.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, 143 documents were signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

Main import products: air and gas compressors, ventilation equipment, vacuum pumps, pipes for the drilling of oil and gas wells, oil and gas pipelines, planes / flying machines and their parts, iron or non-alloy steel rods, refrigerators, sodium and potassium bromides , chocolate products, low-precious metals and their products, food products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, vinegar and tobacco.
Main export products: fuel, gasoline, oil products, hazelnuts, vegetable products, fruit and vegetable juices.
The Azerbaijan-Ukraine Joint Commission was established on the 17th of July 1993. The last, 11th meeting of the commission was held in Baku from the 30th of June to the 1st of July 2016.
The official presentation of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Baku took place during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Azerbaijan on the 17th of December 2019. The structure of the trade house includes several restaurants and a chain of stores ‘Ukrainian Products’ (10 stores). Moreover, several trade structures have been established as part of the above trade house in Guba.
