The Republic of Slovenia
Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Slovenia.
The Republic of Slovenia recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 27th of December 1991. Diplomatic relations were established on the 20th of February 1996. There is a mutual interest in developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia in various fields, while there are efforts undertaken to ensure this cooperation.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Slovenian Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The head of the group is Aghalar Valiyev, a member of the Milli Majlis.
There is a working group on Slovenian-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary relations of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia. The leader of the group is Matyash Nemets.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, Azerbaijan and Slovenia signed twelve documents.
Economic co-operation
Economic relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia are steadily developing, and at present, there is mutual interest in expanding economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia.
In January-June 2020, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Slovenia amounted to US$ 10,397.52. There are favourable conditions for Azerbaijani companies and investors to operate in Slovenia. Currently, future opportunities for further expansion of economic cooperation in various fields are being considered.
There is a potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia in industry, energy, agriculture, equipment, tourism and ICT.
