Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and The Republic of Albania
The Republic of Albania recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on January 4, 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on September 23, 1993.
On November 18, 2022, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, signed the Law on the Establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Albania. On March 1, 2023, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania adopted a decision on the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan attaches importance to the development of relations with Albania. Cooperation between the two countries covers political, economic and humanitarian fields.

Inter-parliamentary relations
Etibar Aliyev MP heads the working group on the Azerbaijan-Albania inter-parliamentary relations in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group comprises 5 members.
The Albania-Azerbaijani Friendship Group was established in the Parliament of Albania in 2010.

Contractual and legal framework
10 agreements have been signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Albania.
Economic cooperation
The Working Group on economic, industrial and technological cooperation between Azerbaijan and Albania was established according to the "Agreement on cooperation in the economic, industrial and technological fields between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania". The first meeting of the Working Group was held on May 4, 2023 in Tirana. Joint Intergovernmental Commission based on Working Group was agreed upon (according to the Agreement on economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania signed in Baku on 1 March 2024). The Intergovernmental Commission is co-chaired by Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan and Belinda Balluku, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania.
There is a huge potential for the expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries, especially for the development of energy cooperation.
