Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Malta were established on the 9th of January 1995.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for Azerbaijan-Malta Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group consists of 5 people, and is chaired by Gudrat Hasanguliyev.
There is a friendship group on Azerbaijan in the Maltese Parliament. The leader of the group is Chris Agius, a member of the House of Representatives of Malta.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, five documents were signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Malta; 4 draft documents are currently under review.
