Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia

 

The former Yugoslavia recognized the independence of Azerbaijan on the 31st of December 1991, and bilateral diplomatic relations between the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro and the Republic of Azerbaijan were established on the 21st of August 1997.

The Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Serbia was opened on the 8th of June 2011.

 

On the 21st to the 22nd of May 2018, the President of Serbia, Mr Aleksandar Vučić, paid an official visit to Azerbaijan.

 

On the 3rd to the 6th of April 2018, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, paid a working visit to Azerbaijan.

On the 21st to the 26th of October 2019, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, paid next working visit to Azerbaijan.

 

Inter-parliamentary relations

The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Serbian Inter-Parliamentary Relations has been established and operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group is chaired by Malahat Ibrahimgyzy.

The Serbian-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group operates in the Serbian Parliament. The leader of the group is Katarina Rakić.

Contractual and legal framework

In total, thirty-four documents were signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia.
