Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Cuba
The Republic of Cuba recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 26th of December 1991. Diplomatic relations between our countries were established on the 27th of March 1992.
The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Azerbaijan was established on the 12th of October 2007.
The President of the Republic of Cuba, Mr Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, was on a working visit to Azerbaijan on the 25th to the 26th of October 2019.
At the level of foreign ministers, Azerbaijani MoFA Elmar Mammadyarov paid an official visit to Cuba on the 28th to the 29th of September 2006, and Mr Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, MoFA of Cuba, paid a return visit to Azerbaijan on the 17th to the 18th of February 2011.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group on Azerbaijani-Cuban Inter-Parliamentary Relations operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The head of the group is Elshad Mirbashir. The Cuban-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group operates in the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba. The Chairman of the Working Group is Mrs Yanisbell Sánchez Rodríguez.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, ten documents were signed between Azerbaijan and Cuba.
Economic Co-operation
The main products imported by the Republic of Azerbaijan from Cuba: alcohol, cigars, tobacco products, handbags for women, postage stamps, state duty stamps or other similar stamps.
The main products exported by the Republic of Azerbaijan to Cuba: new pneumatic rubber tires.
