Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Colombia
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia were established on the 12th of December 1994.
The Azerbaijani diplomatic mission has been active in Colombia since the 1st of April 2014. The Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in Azerbaijan has been operating since the 10th of January 2014.
On the 29th to the 30th of May 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, paid an official visit to the Republic of Colombia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, was on an official visit to Azerbaijan on the 16th of June 2017.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Azerbaijani-Colombian Inter-Parliamentary Working Group has been established and active in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. There is the Colombian-Azerbaijani Friendship Group in the Senate of the Republic of Colombia.
On the 20th of February 2017, the Second Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Colombia (Foreign Affairs, Security and National Defence) adopted a document (constancia) on the 25th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
In December 2018, the Second Committee of the Senate of the Congress of Colombia adopted a resolution supporting the fair position of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, seven documents were signed between the two countries.
Economic co-operation
In 2020, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Colombia reached US$1,229K.
