The United Mexican States
Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Mexican States
On the 25th of December 1991, the United Mexican States recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on the 10th of February 1992.
The Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico has been operating since the 2nd of October 2006.
The Mexican Embassy in Azerbaijan has been operating since the 1st of October 2014.
On the 30th of November to the 3rd of December 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, paid a working visit to Mexico to attend the inauguration ceremony of the recently elected President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador
Inter-parliamentary relations
In 2005, the Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico was established in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On the 8th of April 2010, the Mexican-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group was established in the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Union.
Contractual and legal framework
In total, six documents were signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Mexican States.
Economic Co-operation
In 2020, trade turnover of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the United Mexican States reached US$50.3mm (Import: US$50.1mm; Export: US$202.84K).

Products imported by the Republic of Azerbaijan from Mexico: dried peas, beer, frozen Pacific fish (mainly salmon), other fresh and frozen fish, cocoa-free sugar confectionery, as well as chocolate and chocolate products.
Products exported by the Republic of Azerbaijan to Mexico: Gaskets, spacing washers and magnetic rubber bands, fasteners, spare parts for earth-moving and tunnelling machines.
