Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 12, 1992. Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka were established on August 4, 1992. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Islamic Republic of Iran is also accredited to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Mutual visits of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs
On May 5-8, 2013, Elmar Mammadyarov paid an official visit to Sri Lanka.
On October 23, 2019, Tilak Marapana, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, visited Azerbaijan to attend the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
