Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay were established on the11th of January 1995. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Argentina is also accredited to Uruguay.
On the 22nd of March 2019, then-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, was on a visit to Uruguay.
Then-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, paid an official visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in Baku on the 2nd to the 3rd of May 2019.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for Azerbaijani-Uruguayan Inter-Parliamentary Relations operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The head of the Working Group is Zabelin Mikhail Yuryevich. The Uruguayan Parliament has a friendship group consisting of members of both the Chamber of Senators (Senate) and the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay.
