The Togolese Republic
Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Togo
The Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries was signed in New York on the 28th of December 2010.
The President of the Togolese Republic, Mr Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé Eyadéma, joined the online Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group, which was held on the initiative of the Azerbaijani President and Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ilham Aliyev in response to COVID-19 on the 4th of May 2020. The motto of the Summit was “United against COVID-19”. On the 27th of September 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, met with the Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration Prof. Robert Dussey in New York.
Since 2018, in order to support the development of human capital in developing countries, the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been conducting the capacity-building course (Advanced Foreign Service Programme for Foreign Diplomats) for diplomats from a number of Asian and African countries within the framework of cooperation with the ADA University. The programme, which was held on the 10th to the 30th of November 2018, welcomed diplomats from Togo, Bangladesh, Djibouti, China, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Palestine, Kenya, Malaysia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Somalia, and Vietnam.
