Bilateral diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Djibouti
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Djibouti were established on the 22nd of October 1996. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is also accredited to the Republic of Djibouti. On the 11th of January 2017, the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti adopted a resolution on the Khojaly genocide by an absolute majority at its plenary session. On the 24th to the 26th of October 2019, the President of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, visited the Republic of Azerbaijan. On the 24th to the 26th of February 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti, Mr Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, paid an official visit to Azerbaijan. Mr Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti, participated in the Mid-term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Baku on the 5th to the 6th of April 2018.
Inter-parliamentary relations
The Working Group for the Azerbaijani-Djiboutian Inter-Parliamentary Relations operates in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group is chaired by Salahzadeh Aliabbas Galib. The Djiboutian-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group operates in the National Assembly of Djibouti. The group is headed by Mrs Safia Elmi Djibril.
Contractual and legal framework
The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Djibouti signed four documents on cooperation in various areas.
