Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of the Niger
A protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries was signed on the 10th of October 1995. These relations between Azerbaijan and the Niger have been maintained primarily as part of the UN and OIC. A delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Niger, Calla Ancurao, visited Azerbaijan within the framework of the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which was held in Baku on the 23rd to the 26th of October 2019.On the 23rd of October 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, received a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Niger, Calla Ancurao, as part of the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku. On the 5th of March 2020, in response to the appeal of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the Member States on the tense socio-economic situation in the Sahel region of Africa, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan provided assistance to OIC in the amount of US$100K to support the transformation of the OIC Humanitarian and Development Office in the Niger into the OIC’s Regional Office by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
