Bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of the Sudan
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Sudan were established on the 25th of July 1992.
On the 1st of September 2014, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of the Sudan recognized the massacre committed by the Armenian armed forces against the Azerbaijani civilian population in Khojaly in February of 1992 as an act of genocide and a crime against humanity.In 2018, as part of the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Baku, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan, Mohammad Idrisi, was received.
The Minister of Federal Government Chamber of the Republic of the Sudan Hamid Mohamed Elnour Ahmad, who took part in the 6th International Humanitarian Forum held in Baku on the 25th to the 26th of October 2018, visited our country. On the 5th of July 2020, as part of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Republic of Azerbaijan sent a special flight carrying medical assistance to the Republic of the Sudan.
