Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los-Angeles
Noting that the Jewish community has been living in peace with the representatives of various religious confessions in Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that the freedom of belief in our country has been ensured at the high level. Talking about Azerbaijani people’s high culture of tolerance, he underlined that multiculturalism and tolerance are a part of state policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and our country has hosted high-level events in order to promote an intercultural and interreligious dialogue at the global level.
Saying that his first acquaintance with the country dates back to 1972, Rabbi Abraham Cooper expressed his satisfaction with revisiting Azerbaijan. Noting that our country has achieved the rapid development over the past years, he highlighted the exemplary multiculturalism and tolerance traditions of Azerbaijan. Rabbi Abraham Cooper appreciated ensuring the religious freedom at the high level in our country, as well as the creation of equal conditions for representatives of all religions existing in Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of informing the USA and international community about that policy.
At the meeting, interreligious relations, global and regional issues were discussed.
