Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Foreign Ministers of San Marino, Uruguay and Albania on the sidelines of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly on 25 September, 2015
During the meeting with Pasquale Valentini, Foreign Minister of San Marino, bilateral cooperation opportunities in various fields between two countries were discussed.
At the meeting an Agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments was signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and San Marino.
At the meeting with Rodolfo Nin Novoa, Foreign Minister of Urugay, current cooperation directions between two countries were discussed.
The sides stressed the importance of the fruitful visit of Jose Luis Cancela, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay, to Azerbaijan in September 2015 and of holding political consultations on the level of Ministries of Foreign Affairs for development of the political dialogue between two countries.
Foreign Minister of Uruguay noted that his country is a candidate for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term 2016-2017 and said it would be a pleasure for Uruguay to get Azerbaijan’s experience gained as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term 2012-2013.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the cooperation with Latin America and mentioned favorable opportunities for the development of cooperation, especially in the fields of energy and agriculture between Azerbaijan and Uruguay.
Minister invited the Uruguayan counterpart to pay a visit to Azerbaijan and said that it would create a good opportunity for future cooperation between our countries. Uruguayan Minister accepted the invitation with pleasure.
The meeting went on with exchanging views on the issues of mutual interest.
At the meeting with Ditmir Bushati, Foreign Minister of Albania, the sides expressed their satisfaction with the development of relations between two countries and discussed the cooperation on bilateral and multilateral level. Albanian Minister emphasized the favorable opportunities for the development of cooperation, in particular in the field of energy between two countries.
The sides noted the importance of reciprocal visits for the development of bilateral relations.
