No:594/22, Press release on the 40th meeting of the GUAM Council of Foreign Ministers
On December 20, 2022, the 40th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM was held in video conference format.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov took part in the meeting chaired by the Acting Chairman of GUAM, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Nicolae Popescu. At the meeting, Georgia was represented by Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, and Ukraine by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov spoke about the importance of the projects implemented in the field of transport, communication, and trade within the framework of GUAM, as well as cooperation relations within the framework of the inter-parliamentary cooperation platform.
The deputy minister informed the participants of the event about the restoration and reconstruction activities carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and the steps taken towards the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, detailed information about Armenia's non-fulfillment of its obligations deriving from the known trilateral statements and the landmine threat in the territories liberated from occupation was brought to the attention of the participants. It was particularly mentioned that the landmines produced by Armenia were transferred to the territory of Azerbaijan through the Lachin corridor and the military provocations continued.
At the end of the meeting, the protocol of the current meeting and 2 decisions were adopted and the chairmanship was handed over to Ukraine.
