No:578/22, Press release on the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta Ian Borg

On December 12, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta Ian Borg within the framework of his working visit to Belgium.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views on the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, including the regional and international situation, took place.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Malta in various fields, including political, economic, energy, investment, etc. It was stated that it is important to use the existing potential for the further development of relations between the two countries. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the opposite side in detail about the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale rehabilitation and reconstruction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of advancing the peace agenda in the region, the provocations carried out by Armenia during the post-conflict period, including the threat of landmines.

 

Minister Ian Borg noted that, in addition to the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Malta, there is an effective cooperation agenda within the framework of the UN and other multilateral platforms. The importance of the meetings in the development of the political dialogue between the two countries was emphasized. Speaking about the growing importance of energy security against the background of the events taking place in the world, in this regard Minister Ian Borg emphasized Azerbaijan's significant contribution to Europe's energy security.

 

At the meeting, an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place.
