No:569/22, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with Fergus Auld, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan

On December 9, 2022, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Fergus Auld, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to our country.

 

At the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom and discussed in detail the cooperation between the two countries in energy, transport-transit, education, and other fields.

 

It was emphasized that the achievements obtained in the economic field between our countries are quite significant and Great Britain is the largest foreign direct investor in Azerbaijan.

 

Minister also informed his interlocutor about the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the rehabilitation and reconstruction work carried out in our territories liberated from occupation. At the same time, landmine threats in the region and the facts of non-fulfillment by Armenia of trilateral statements and agreements reached were brought to attention.

 

Ambassador Fergus Auld expressed his satisfaction with the close cooperation and partnership between our countries since independence. He noted that the cooperation between the two countries continues successfully and that there are wide prospects in energy, alternative energy, education, high technologies, and in a number of other areas. It was especially noted that Azerbaijan has made a significant contribution to Europe's energy security. The ambassador underlined that the efforts to eliminate the existing landmine threat and the support given to Azerbaijan in the field of mine clearance will continue.

 

At the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
