No:487/22, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the participation and speech of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Istanbul

On October 17, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov participated in the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Istanbul.

The main issues on the agenda of the meeting were the Strategy of the Organization of Turkic States for 2022-2026, including a number of important documents related to the work of the organization, recent developments in our region, preparations for the next Summit to be held in Uzbekistan on November 11 of the current year, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made a speech at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OTS and voiced the following main views:

  • Brotherly Türkiye's chairmanship in OTS has made an important contribution to strengthening cooperation between member states. In this regard, the holding of the next Summit in brotherly Uzbekistan will serve to further strengthen the Organization.

  • Azerbaijan hopes that the adoption of a number of important documents of today's Summit, especially the Strategic Road Map of the Organization of Turkic States for 2022-2026 will make a significant contribution to the organization's work.

  • Azerbaijan is in close cooperation with OTS member states both within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States and on a bilateral basis. In this regard, the recent visits of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are of exceptional importance.

  • The special attention given within the organization to the selection of the city of Shusha as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2023 is commendable. We also believe that the Shusha Turkic Business Forum, held on September 16, 2022, will make an important contribution to the reconstruction and restoration work carried out in our liberated territories.

  • Against the background of the processes taking place in our geography and new challenges, we believe that OTS plays the role of a platform that creates a wide opportunity to fight these challenges.

  • Azerbaijan always supports the activities of the OTS and will continue to make efforts to further strengthen the relations between our brotherly nations under the umbrella of the OTS.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov then drew attention to the position of Azerbaijan regarding important issues on the agenda of the meeting. Minister informed the participants of the event in detail about the recent clashes as a result of Armenia's provocation, as well as the latest situation related to the work done within the framework of our initiative to sign a peace treaty with Armenia. In addition, despite Azerbaijan's efforts in the process of normalization of relations with Armenia, opening of communications, border delimitation, as well as in humanitarian directions, it was emphasized that Armenia obstructs the processes and grossly violates its obligations within the trilateral statements.
