On 6 December 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with the delegation headed by Joshua Huck, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs of the United States.
At the meeting, issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as prospects of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, were discussed.
The importance of historical cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and the United States in a number of directions and the importance of developing bilateral relations within the framework of mutual interests were noted. Azerbaijan–US cooperation within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Azerbaijan in November of the current year, was highly appreciated.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov informed the other side about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period and the negotiations conducted on the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Despite significant progress in the negotiations on the peace agreement, the continuing claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country in the Constitution of Armenia, legislative acts, as well as in international organizations and courts, were once again recalled, and the importance of abandoning these claims was emphasized.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
