On 2 December 2025, an introductory meeting was held at the administrative building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with volunteers admitted to the “Diplomacy Volunteers” group for 2025–2026.
The meeting featured remarks by the Head of the Press Service Department and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizada, and the Head of the Human Resources Department, Raman Mammadov.
During the meeting, the volunteers were provided with detailed information about the activities and structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the work of the “Diplomatic Volunteers” group operating under the Ministry and the content of the program.
It was noted that, guided by the instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to involve volunteers in the activities of state institutions, the “Diplomatic Volunteers” group—comprising students and graduates studying international relations and other related fields—was established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 1 June 2019. Since its establishment, more than 300 individuals have graduated from the volunteer program.
It was highlighted that, as a result of the admission process announced in August this year, more than 1,000 candidates registered for membership through the electronic system created on the Ministry’s official website (compared to approximately 400 applicants last year). Following the results of the online interview stage conducted with candidates who met the established requirements, 95 candidates were selected to join the “Diplomatic Volunteers” group.
Within the framework of the 6-month volunteer program, it is envisaged to familiarize the volunteers with the structure of the Ministry, provide them with the necessary knowledge for their work, and equip them with practical skills. In this regard, the volunteers will be engaged in internships within the structural divisions of the Ministry, as well as in various training sessions on different topics, including visits to a number of state institutions and the liberated territories.
It was emphasized that the main objective of the program is to enhance the volunteers’ awareness of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities in the post-conflict period, the dynamics of the country’s bilateral and multilateral relations, regional and international initiatives, as well as areas such as defense, energy security, transport and communications, climate change, parliamentary diplomacy, and reconstruction and development efforts in the liberated territories. The program also aims to provide essential knowledge and skills for young people aspiring to become diplomats, including information on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
