No:426/24, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil

On 23 October 2024, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan had a meeting with Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil within the framework of the BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia.

 

At the meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation directions between Azerbaijan and Brazil, as well as the matters related to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) preparations were discussed.

 

Significance of fostering more reciprocal visits and interactions to advance the current political discourse between the two countries was mentioned.

 

It was pointed out that the political consultations held between our countries are useful in terms of discussing cooperation opportunities.

 

It was stated that the current trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Brazil does not correspond to the priorities for further deepening of cooperation, and in this regard, the importance of using existing opportunities to develop economic and trade relations was mentioned.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov gave comprehensive details on the negotiation process, the proposed presidency initiatives and priorities, and the status of preparatory works of COP29, and underlined the value of collaboration in COP presidencies’ Troika format to maintain the sustainability of the process.

 

It was mentioned that we are looking forward to achieve substantial progress in bringing financial resources to climate action which is one of the top priorities of our COP29 presidency.

 

During the meeting, other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed.
