No:425/24, Press release on the 9th meeting of the high-level working group on Caspian Sea issues
On 22–23 October 2024, the 9th meeting of the high-level working group on Caspian Sea issues took place in Astana.
Delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (head of delegation - S. Sharifov), the Islamic Republic of Iran (head of delegation - A. Jahangiri), the Republic of Kazakhstan (head of delegation – Z. Amanzholova), the Russian Federation (head of delegation - M. Petrakov) and Turkmenistan (head of delegation - M. Atadzhanov) attended the negotiations.
The meeting was chaired by Z. Amanzholova, head of the Kazakh delegation.
The parties continued to discuss the methodology of drawing straight baselines in the Caspian Sea.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the cooperation in the Caspian region, discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Caspian littoral states' foreign ministers in Turkmenistan, as well as the discourse of the negotiation process on the draft multilateral documents.
The delegations expressed their gratitude to the Republic of Kazakhstan for professional organization of the meeting.
Next meeting of high-level working group will take place in Turkmenistan and the time will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
