No:413/19, On the sidelines of the eighth Trilateral Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye held in Tibilisi, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia
During the meeting, the Ministers discussed issues and perspectives of bilateral cooperation.
Giorgi Gakharia, warmly welcomed Elmar Mammadyarov and invited the head of our country President Ilham Aliyev to visit his country in 2020.
Speaking about the prospects of cooperation within various international organizations, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Azerbaijan for supporting territorial integrity of Georgia.
In his turn, touching upon the strategic relations between the two countries Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed the importance of further strengthening these ties. The Minister also thanked Georgia for its support to the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
The parties underlined that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, which are of global significance in the field of energy, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, as well as other regional cooperation projects binding the two countries, along with providing the basis for development of the bilateral relations, serve to maintaining stability and security in the region.
During the exchange of views, implementation of energy projects between the two countries and the potential of both countries in the field of renewable energy were emphasized.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the process of delimitation and demarcation of the state border between Azerbaijan and Georgia and noted that the next meeting of the Commission on delimitation of the state border will be held soon.
The sides also discussed various issues of global security agenda.
