No:409/24, Press release on the introductory meeting with volunteers selected for the "Diplomacy Volunteers" group for 2024-2025 term
On 10 October 2024, an introductory meeting with volunteers selected for the "Diplomacy Volunteers" group for 2024-2025 term was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Aykhan Hajizada, Director of the Press Service Department, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended and delivered a speech at the meeting.
During the meeting, the volunteers received comprehensive information about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' structure, tasks, activities of the "Diplomacy Volunteers" group, the content of volunteer program, and answers to their questions.
MFA Spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada congratulated the recently selected diplomacy volunteers on their achievement and wished them success in their activities.
It was noted that the "Diplomacy Volunteers" group which is composed of students and graduates studying foreign policy and other related fields, was established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 1 June 2019 in accordance with the instruction of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on involvement of volunteers in the activities of government institutions. It was noted that in the five years since the group's establishment, 250 people have already completed the volunteer program.
Following the announcement of the selection procedure for diplomacy volunteers in May and June of this year, 140 people who met the membership requirements were invited to the interview stage out of approximately 300 candidates who registered using the electronic system launched on the Ministry's official website. Based on the results of the interview stage, 60 candidates were selected.
Throughout the course of the 6-month volunteering program, young volunteers will be introduced to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' structure, essential information for work purposes, and will do an internship at the various departments of the Ministry to acquire practical skills in their activities. They will also join trainings on a variety of topics, visit numerous government organizations, as well as liberated territories.
The program's primary goal is to train volunteers on our foreign policy priorities in the post-conflict period, the dynamics of our bilateral and multilateral relations, regional and international initiatives in a variety of fields, such as defense, energy security, transportation and communications, combating climate change, parliamentary diplomacy, etc., reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as crucial information and skills for young people who want to become diplomats.
