No:375/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Elina Valtonen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland

On 25 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Elina Valtonen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland, within the framework of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Finland in bilateral and multilateral formats, including issues arising from Finland’s 2025 OSCE Chairpersonship, as well as regional issues.
It was underlined that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change may create additional opportunities for cooperation.
The other side was informed in detail about the current situation and realities in our region in the post-conflict period and the course of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It was emphasized that the continuing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenian legislation, as well as the rapid armament of this country, are the main factors posing a threat to the process of building sustainable peace in the region.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
