On August 22, 2022, an event and exhibition was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia.

The leadership of MFA of the Republic of Azerbaijan, members of the Milli Majlis, employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives of companies operating in Azerbaijan, as well as other guests took part in the event.

The event began with playing the national anthems of both countries.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov conveyed his sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia. Noting with satisfaction the existence of the relations between our countries, which reached the level of strategic partnership in the past 25 years, the Deputy Minister stressed that Serbia is one of the 12 European countries that Azerbaijan has signed a document on the establishment of strategic partnership relations. Emphasizing that relations between the two countries are developing in various fields, including political, economic, humanitarian, trade, and infrastructure fields, Khalaf Khalafov stated that there is potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia in other fields, including transport and energy fields.  Speaking about the peace and reconstruction efforts of Azerbaijan after the 44-day Patriotic War, which resulted in the emergence of new realities in the region, Deputy Minister Khalaf Khalafov said that cooperation with companies of friendly countries is especially encouraged in the restoration and reconstruction works carried out by our country in the territories liberated from occupation.

Speaking later, Dragan Vladisavljevic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, stated that despite the fact that the foundation of diplomatic relations between our countries was laid on August 21, 1997, the history of the development of our relations is much older.  Stating that the similar past and challenges bring Azerbaijan and Serbia closer together, the Ambassador specifically noted the role of mutual high-level visits in the development of relations.  In addition to the bilateral partnership between the two countries, Dragan Vladisavljevic noted the existence of effective cooperation on multilateral platforms, and in this regard, emphasized the cooperation of Azerbaijan and Serbia in organizing the 60th anniversary event of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Belgrade last year.  Consequently, the Ambassador conveyed his congratulations to the participants of the event on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and wished for the further development of friendship and partnership relations between the two countries.

At the end of the event, the participants were acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
