On 10 September 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Brendan Hanrahan, Senior Official of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, issues arising from the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Strategic Working Group for the preparation of the Strategic Partnership Charter, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest were discussed.
During the meeting, where an exchange of views was held on the history of Azerbaijan-U.S. relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in a number of areas, including security and energy, it was noted in particular that high-level visits and contacts held in August of the current year occupy an important place in the development of relations.
The importance of the historic agreements reached as a result of the Washington meeting in advancing the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda initiated by our country, including the initialling of the peace agreement and the steps taken to eliminate the structures that are remnants of the former conflict, was emphasized.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
