No:354/19, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Mr.Kalla Ankourao, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration of the Republic of Niger on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku
Welcoming the guest, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted the interest of our country in deepening cooperation with Niger.
His counterpart from Niger, in his turn, informed that due to his other commitments the Head of the State could not attend the Summit and expressed his regrets in this regard, Minister stressed the high-level organization of the Summit and wished all the best to Azerbaijan during its chairmanship.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on prospects of fruitful cooperation in various areas, noting especially the education of students from Niger in Azerbaijan, as well as benefiting from Azerbaijan's experience in the oil industry.
At the meeting, the importance of close and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, especially the UN, OIC and Non-Aligned Movement was also highlighted. The sides expressed confidence that cooperation established between Niger and Azerbaijan within the UN and OIC will be successfully developed within the framework of the NAM. In this regard, Niger's non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council, starting from 2020, was considered to be a great opportunity.
The sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Kalla Ankourao wrote his heartfelt words in the Memorial Book dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
