On 23 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Xavier Bettel, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, within the framework of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
At the meeting, prospects for bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Luxembourg, as well as regional and international security issues were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing detailed information on the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, including informed about the course of the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and existing problems.
It was emphasized that the continuing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Constitution of Armenia are the main obstacle to achieving peace.
The importance of using the existing prospects for cooperation in the field of combating climate change within the framework of Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was noted.
At the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
