21 July 2025 15:02

On 17–18 July, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, visited the city of Hanoi to participate in the 3rd meeting of the Azerbaijan–Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, and delivered a speech at the meeting.

Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister also met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang. During the meeting, issues arising from the political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the city of Baku on 21 April of the current year were discussed.

The sides also reviewed the existing potential for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vietnam in political, trade and economic, energy, agriculture, transport, and humanitarian fields.

It was emphasized that relations have reached a new stage—the level of Strategic Partnership—following the state visit of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, to Azerbaijan on 7–8 May, and the importance of strengthening interparliamentary relations was noted.

The importance of the Azerbaijan–Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission was highlighted, and the Protocol on the outcomes of the 3rd meeting of the Commission, along with the Action Plan covering 2025–2027, was signed and highly appreciated.

The sides also expressed confidence that the 3rd “Vietnam Days,” to be held in the city of Baku at the end of July, will contribute to the expansion of cultural ties.
